Dr. Marc Levinson is an optometric physician and partner at North Jersey Eye Care Center in Newfoundland, N.J., a professional optometric practice that provides high quality, full scope vision care. With a concentration in visually related learning problems in children, Dr. Levinson has been serving patients for more than 30 years.
Dr. Levinson earned his B.S. in Psychology from Queens College and his Doctor of Optometry from the State University of New York College of Optometry. Upon graduating from school, he opened North Jersey Eye Care Center in Newfoundland, N.J. with his two brothers, Dr. Paul Levinson and Dr. Howard Levinson. One year later, he and brother, Dr. Paul Levinson, expanded into a second location in Scotch Plains, N.J.
Dr. Levinson developed an interest in learning problems in children while still in optometry school when he witnessed first hand, through a family member, the direct correlation between vision problems and learning challenges. Since that time, he’s treated countless children who’ve, as a result, gone on to boost their grades in school and reverse behavioral problems. By improving eye movement control, coordination and binocularity, his treatments alleviate stress on the eyes, which translates to an overall improved quality of life.
In addition to working with children, Dr. Levinson also treats a large number of adult patients, including those with glaucoma related issues. With a thorough, calm approach to examinations, he treats each patient like a family member, oftentimes developing close, personal bonds that extend beyond the office.
Widely regarded as an expert in visually related learning problems and vision training, Dr. Levinson is frequently asked to speak in front of members of the N.Y. and N.J. school systems to educate them on the prevalence of this issue in children. He also trains school nurses in how to screen for the disorder.
Dr. Levinson is a member of the American Optometric Association and the New Jersey Society for Optometric Physicians. When not serving patients, he enjoys traveling with his wife of 26 years and his two adult children, ages 18 and 21. He is also an avid golfer and tennis player.
